About
While younger maternal age has been identified as a contributing factor for child welfare involvement, little is known about the experiences and trajectories of young mothers who become involved in the system as parents. This project sought to better understand how young mothers experience their involvement with Ontario child welfare agencies, as well as their experience of parenting and their relationships with their young children. We also examined the circumstances leading to child welfare involvement and the impactful elements of interventions designed for young mothers with child welfare involvement. We continue to analyze data from our interviews with young mothers, and we expect to share additional findings in the coming months.
